Who we are
Planned Markdown (plannedmarkdown.com) is operated by Aaron Whitfield. For the personal data described here, Aaron Whitfield acts as the data controller. Contact us at [email protected].
What we collect and why
- Account data (email address, name if you provide one, authentication identifiers) — to create and secure your account and to sign you in. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Plan data (markdown schedules and the inventory figures you enter and choose to save) — to provide saved plans, CSV imports, and decision memos. Legal basis: performance of our contract.
- Subscription records (plan, status, billing period, provider identifiers) — to grant paid access. Legal basis: contract and legal obligation.
- Support messages — to answer your questions. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Usage and technical data (feature events, device and browser information, IP address in server logs) — for security, fraud prevention, and product improvement. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
The free calculator does not require an account, and figures you enter without saving are not transmitted to us for storage.
Who we share data with
- Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, and authentication infrastructure used to run the service.
- Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of subscriptions, subscription management, payments, invoicing, and tax compliance.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
- Authorities where we are required to by law.
We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
Retention
Account and plan data are kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, plan data is deleted with it. Subscription and transaction records are kept as long as required for accounting and tax purposes. Data no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent. You can also complain to your supervisory authority. Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, row-level access controls that scope plan data to its owner, and server-side enforcement of paid access.
Cookies and local storage
We use only essential storage: a session token that keeps you signed in, and browser storage that holds your current unsaved planner inputs. We do not run advertising cookies. Clearing your browser storage signs you out.
